How it works

Pick it, build it, share it, see it work.

Taktyl keeps two things apart. An interaction is one thing to do: a quiz, a crossword, a picture with hotspots. An activity is what students open, a few pages with interactions on them. You build each interaction once and use it wherever it fits.

Start from a type, a template or a file

Pick one of twenty-two types. Or start from a template you or a colleague saved, or drop in your .h5p files and see what comes across before anything is made.

Build it

One editor for every question kind, with a preview as students will see it. Your work saves as you go, with Undo when you change your mind. Paste your notes to get draft questions, each one quoting the line it came from.

Line it up as an activity

An activity is what students open: pages in order, each a piece of content or one interaction, with an optional cover and a finish that shows the score. Set the attempts, the pass mark, when the answers show, and when it opens and closes.

Publish a version

Each Publish makes a version that never changes, so every attempt knows exactly what the student saw. Taktyl checks first: an activity with no pages, or a picture with no description, stops the Publish until it is fixed.

Share it

A link, an embed code or a QR code, Live or Frozen. Or add it from Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard or Brightspace, with the marks sent to the gradebook. One interaction can sit in several activities and stays one thing to keep up to date.

Home shows who finished and the average score at a glance. Insights goes page by page and question by question, with the wrong answer given most, and downloads as a spreadsheet.

Workspaces and roles

A department works in its own workspace. Members build, Leaders look after a workspace, and Organisation Admins look after the whole account.

Your look, checked

Themes for the organisation and each workspace: seven colours, your typefaces and corners, with a contrast check before you save. A theme is fixed into a version when you publish.

One library of pictures and video

Personal, workspace and organisation files in one place. A file in use cannot be deleted from under an activity.

Templates

Save any activity or interaction as a template for yourself, your workspace or the whole organisation.

A Bin, not a cliff

Deleted work waits in the Bin for the time your organisation sets, and comes back with one click.

Sign in your way

Single sign-on with SAML or OpenID Connect, and student sign-in through the LMS or by a link sent to their email.

Accessible by default

Every drag has a keyboard way and move buttons beside it. Answers show with a symbol and a word, never colour alone. Videos carry captions and a transcript, and text follows the browser's text size.

Your AI, your key

Suggestions come from your organisation's own AI service, never ours, and Taktyl does not use your content to train AI models. Staff can also connect Claude or ChatGPT to build drafts with their own permissions.
